KIG exports 45pc of products to Taiwan, BIMP-EAGA
 

KUCHING: KIG Ceramic Industry Sdn Bhd, which has the biggest production capacity in the country, exported about 45 percent of its ceramic roofing products to Taiwan and the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) countries.

Its director/senior manager Lee Foo Lang said the remaining 55 percent of its products, mainly ceramic roofing tiles, were used in Malaysia.

"KIG Ceramic is currently producing 800,000 pieces per month on one line, about a third of its capacity of 2.4 million peices per month on three lines," he said quoting the Sarawak Industrial Bulletin, the Satte Industrial Development Ministry's official newsletter.

He said despite requiring a lot of capital investment, the industry had a good future and the company sought research and development (R&D) from China and Taiwan to ensure the producst were more competitive in the market. It also collaborates with members of the KIG Group in China and Indoensia for expertise, he said.

Apart from its factory in Sarawak, it has three other factories in China and two in Indonesia. He said the company was considered the biggest ceremic roof tile producer in China with an investmen of about RM80 million - Bernama
